WELCOME TO THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2024 FOR TRACKING DOGS

Until the middle of last year, there had been no application to host the 2024 Tracking Dog World Championships. It was the idea of the FCI Utility-Dog-Commission to get Germany to host again, based on its experiences from 2000, 2004, 2012 and 2014.

Many thanks to the UDC, the FCI-Board and everyone involved to decide in such a short of time, that Germany will be the host of this important World Championships.

But a big THANK YOU GOES TO THOSE; WHO are NOT ONLY hosts, but also have the entire work of organizing such a major event, these are the members of the DVG HSV Güstrow with their families and friends. We stay very close to the region (appr. 70 km away) where the Millennium World Championships took place 24 years ago.  Some of you still remember the huge fields in the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. (Champion: Erwin Patzen and Vice: Peter Lengvarski – both are still in the sport)

We will see the largest number of participants from different countries, all with the same goal of becoming the World Tracking Dog Champion.

The organizational team, the appointed judges, the trial chairmen and the track layers not only have a difficult task, because of many kilometers they should cover every day, but above all it is about recognizing the equivalence of the performances shown and to evaluate them accordingly regardless of the breed and size of the dogs.

Without the farmers or the agricultural cooperatives and hunting tenants, there would be no way to practice this beautiful dog sport. We don’t take it for granted, that these fields are available to us. Thank you for that.

Without sponsors, such an event would also be impossible in this context, so we would like to thank the sponsors for their support.

I look forward welcoming you and your teams, qualified to represent their countries at this World Championships.

I wish everyone good luck and a warm welcome.
