Greetings from Social Minister Stefanie Drese on the 2024 World Championships for Tracking Dogs in Dobbin-Linstow

Dear dog sportmen and -women,

for tracking dogs and politicians alike, sometimes it’s all about having the right “nose”. Dogs naturally have the advantage in this respect. However, political decision-making processes are above all the result of teamwork. Good cooperation is also important in dog sports; animals and humans have to trust each other, be patient and show preservance.

Especially when it’s no less than a World Championship in your own country. A World Championship of Tracking Dogs in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern – that is really something special. Therefore I would like to expressly thank the club hosting this World Championship, the Güstrow Hundesportverein. Thjs is certainly an absolute highlight in your club’s history and at the same time a major organizational feat. Without voluntary commitment and personal dedication, a World Championship would be inconceivable. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you personally. For me a Minister of Social Affairs, voluntary work and volunteering are of outstanding importance for social cohesion and the strengthening of democratic values and attitudes. And as a dog owner, I’m also thrilled to see how much passion you have all put into organizing this event.

I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all teams. It’s great that you have found your way to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Perhaps you can also get a taste of our beautiful state outside of the competition. I wish all participants every success and “good nose” to your dogs.

Yours, Stefanie Drese
